The microneedles used with the Agnes system are either singular or triplet in nature. This allows treatment of localized areas and precision of where we want the energy delivered. The “energy” is a radiofrequency, or thermal (heat) energy. That focused energy heat decreases fat and contracts the skin. Specifically, it targets deep, medium or superficial fat, and the heat stimulates collagen and tightens based on the depth of energy delivered. The heat causes a localized injury that keeps the skin surface intact. This allows us to sculpt and define the chin, jawline, and reduce undereye bags. This energy can also be delivered to enlarged pores or the sebaceous glands that cause acne. The heat shrinks or destroys the sebaceous gland, leading to decreased pore size and improvement in acne. What is wonderful about this technology is that it can treat all skin types and tones with minimal downtime.
On the day of treatment, topical numbing cream is applied for 30 min. Treatment areas are then marked and numbed with anesthetic by injection. There is minimal discomfort during the treatment. Some redness is expected after the treatment that may last for 1-2 days, although it does depend on the treatment area. Results can be seen after 1 treatment, but for optimal results, we usually recommended 2-3.
