HALO® vs. BBL® vs. Morpheus8®: Which Treatment Is Right for You?
While HALO®, BBL®, and Morpheus8® are all advanced skin rejuvenation treatments, each is designed to address different concerns. During your consultation, our experienced providers will evaluate your skin and recommend the treatment—or combination of treatments—that best aligns with your goals.
HALO® is a hybrid fractional laser that treats both the surface and deeper layers of the skin. It is an excellent option for improving sun damage, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and overall skin texture while stimulating long-term collagen production.
BBL® (BroadBand Light) is an advanced light-based treatment that targets pigmentation, redness, broken capillaries, freckles, age spots, and sun damage. It is ideal for patients looking to restore a brighter, more even complexion with minimal downtime.
Morpheus8® combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to remodel collagen deep beneath the skin's surface. It is often recommended for patients with skin laxity, deeper wrinkles, acne scarring, and concerns involving the jawline, neck, or lower face where additional tightening and contouring are desired.
Many patients achieve the best results by combining treatments. For example, BBL® can improve discoloration and sun damage while HALO® refines skin texture and stimulates collagen. Morpheus8® may be recommended alongside HALO® for patients seeking both skin resurfacing and enhanced skin tightening. During your consultation, our physician-led team will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your skin type, concerns, lifestyle, and desired results.
How Does HALO® Work?
HALO® is the world's first hybrid fractional laser, combining both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in a single treatment to rejuvenate the skin at multiple depths. The ablative wavelength precisely resurfaces the outer layer of damaged skin, improving concerns such as uneven texture, enlarged pores, fine lines, and acne scars. At the same time, the non-ablative wavelength delivers controlled heat into the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production and promote long-term skin renewal. This dual-action approach allows HALO® to improve sun damage, discoloration, wrinkles, and overall skin quality while offering a customizable treatment with less downtime than many traditional laser resurfacing procedures. Your provider can tailor the treatment intensity based on your skin type, concerns, and desired results, creating a personalized plan that delivers natural-looking, healthier skin over time.
What sets Halo apart from other fractional laser treatments is its dual wavelength technology that allows for precise, targeted treatment of your specific concerns. This means your Halo treatment can be adjusted to pinpoint the exact treatment depth needed to restore the youthful, healthy appearance of your skin.

Previous fractional laser treatments lacked this precision and would either be unable to correct the problem, or would require unnecessary recovery time for even minor treatments. With Halo, we can completely tailor your treatment based on your skin type and goals in order to maximize your results while minimizing any downtime. We could perform a quick, lighter treatment to have your skin glowing and ready to show off the next day, or you can have a slightly more intense treatment with just a few days of downtime to completely rejuvenate the look of your skin and have it looking its best for a big upcoming event, such as a wedding, vacation, or family reunion.

What to Expect During and After Your HALO® Treatment
Your HALO® laser treatment begins with a personalized consultation to confirm that HALO® is the right treatment for your skin concerns and goals. Before your procedure, a topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for approximately 30 minutes to maximize your comfort. Depending on your treatment plan, your provider may also recommend taking Tylenol® before the procedure.
Once your skin is prepared, your provider uses the advanced Sciton® HALO® laser system to customize your treatment. The device measures the treatment area and precisely calculates the energy delivered based on your skin type, concerns, and desired results. During the procedure, most patients describe the sensation as warm or mildly hot rather than painful. Continuous cooling is provided throughout the treatment to help maintain your comfort.
Immediately after treatment, your skin will appear pink to red, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn, and you may experience warmth for one to four hours. Your provider will apply soothing skincare and cooling measures to help minimize discomfort before you leave the office.
Over the next several days, your skin will begin its natural renewal process. Redness typically improves within the first few days, while tiny dark spots—often called microscopic treatment zones (MTZs) or "MENDS"—develop as damaged skin cells rise to the surface and naturally shed. As these areas flake away, you'll notice smoother skin, a more even complexion, refined pores, and the signature HALO® glow.
While many patients notice brighter, healthier-looking skin within the first week, the benefits continue to improve over the following weeks and months as your body produces new collagen and elastin. This ongoing collagen remodeling helps improve fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, skin texture, and overall skin quality for long-lasting, natural-looking results.
If you're ready to improve sun damage, uneven skin tone, fine lines, acne scars, or overall skin texture with HALO® laser resurfacing, schedule a complimentary consultation with our physician-led team. We'll evaluate your skin and create a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve healthier, more radiant skin.
