Herbal Medicine as practiced at L-Aesthetics & Longevity MedSpa is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which has been practiced for thousands of years in China. Herbs are the original “medicine” or “drugs” and can be used to successfully and naturally treat many complaints including infections, GI problems like diarrhea, constipation and nausea; anxiety, insomnia, pain, urinary issues, menstrual complaints, and much more.

I have had the best experiences at L Aesthetics...I am not necessarily a spa person and I don't really have a lot of interest in the medical end of medi-spa treatments either.  Anna C. - Austin, TX

Nutritional Supplements

Nutritional supplements include vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other compounds that are used by the body in various processes. These processes can include facilitating the production of energy, making collagen, the conversion of a substance into a more useful or less harmful substance, communicating important messages, and the prevention of oxidation in the cells of the body. These are only a few of the multitude of uses for substances that can be supplemented.

Some of the ingredients supplemented are necessary for the human body to function properly, such as vitamins and minerals. Vitamins and minerals are essential nutrients that are needed by the body and except for vitamin D, the human body cannot make them on its own in sufficient quantities.

A few examples of diseases that can arise from vitamin deficiencies include:

Scurvy from not enough Vitamin C

Blindness from Vitamin A deficiency

Rickets (soft weak bones) caused by a deficiency of Vitamin D

Spinal cord defects can be caused when there is not enough folic acid present in the pregnant mother

Available routes of administration for supplements

Supplements may be taken most frequently by mouth, through the skin, as an injection, or in an IV infusion. Most people find that it is convenient to take them by mouth, but we also have a large number of clients that prefer injections or IV because they want higher levels faster, or do not like to take pills. Patients who have had gastric or intestinal surgery often have trouble absorbing nutrients when taken by mouth and we find that they do better with IV or injections.

We are here to help you supplement wisely

Because vitamins, minerals, herbs and other substances can build up in the body overtime, and because many of them are processed in the liver, it is important to be careful in your supplementation, especially with long term supplement use.

Even something that sounds so harmless and innocent as essential oils can be toxic to the liver if used inappropriately.  That is why our holistic medicine experts are available for consultations to make sure that you are using the supplements that are the best for you and that you are using supplements safely.

We have done the research to find high quality, lab tested supplements by manufacturers that we trust. We are making these available to our clients through our offices and through our online stores. Check out our link to our Thorne store below. If you are interested in Designs For Health, we have an online option, and we carry Orthomolecular, BioTE, and Pure Encapsulations products in our offices.
