The Do’s and Don’ts of Post Injectable Care
So you made it through your first injectable appointment, congratulations! Understandably it’s a little scary leading up to that first appointment, but you nailed it. Now that you’re through the first appointment, let’s address some common side effects and post care do’s and don’ts to expedite your healing time and get you back to your normal routine ASAP!
The Side Effects
Let’s first start with common side effects you can expect post injectables:
- Minimal to moderate swelling
- Bruising
- Tenderness of the treated area
- Mild asymmetry
- Bumps
Unfortunately, any time we introduce a needle into the skin, there is potential for these side effects. Do not worry. These are very common and they will resolve within the next two weeks.
Caring for Your Newly Injected Face: Do’s and Don’ts
Just like the week preceding your appointment, how you handle the 2 weeks following your injectable appointment can be a game changer and really expedite your healing process. So here’s how to handle the next 2 weeks like a pro…
Don’ts:
Massage injected area
Exercise vigorously for 24 hours
Consume excessive amounts of alcohol or salt for the next 24 hours
Take NSAIDs (Aleve, Aspirin, Ibuprofen)
These things can increase the risk of product movement, swelling and bruising, and let’s face it, your face is what people notice when you walk into a room. It’s okay, take a break from boot camp. Yourhr face will thank you and we won’t spill why you weren’t there.
Do’s:
Apply arnica
Use cool compresses for 10 minutes every 2-3 hours
Take acetaminophen/Tylenol for discomfort
Sleep face up with head slightly elevated
The Do’s are great ways to minimize swelling and bruising so you can strut your stuff confidently out and about.
I hope this information gives you confidence as you approach your appointment or adds comfort following your injectable appointment. Remember this too shall pass and you’re going to freaking love your results! Don’t ever be afraid to give us a call though if you have any additional questions or concerns. We can’t wait to see you!
