Lip Filler Journey & What To Expect!

Written by: Lauren Klein

The journey is real, and we get a lot of questions on what to expect with getting dermal fillers, but especially in the lip. I am here to talk about the day to day journey leading up to your appointment and what to expect after you have been injected.

Schedule a consultation at L-Aesthetics and Longevity because we want you to feel the most comfortable with who your injector is and know everything you need to know and what to expect. We will give you pricing options available to you and walk you through the entire treatment.

Two days before your appointment at L-Aesthetics and Longevity you want to make sure  you are staying away from alcoholic beverages and any medications that might thin your blood like Aspirin or Ibuprofen because it could cause swelling and leave you more vulnerable to bruising.

The day of your appointment at L-Aesthetics and Longevity we want to make sure that you are staying hydrated and confident about being ready for your appointment. We apply a topical numbing gel onto the desired area and let that sit for about 15-20 minutes. We then prep the desired area by cleaning and making sure you are feeling numb enough.

During your injection because we use Juvederm products that contain extra lidocaine in the syringe, you will continuously feel more and more numb during your treatment so there should be no hesitations there!

After your injections at L-Aesthetics and Longevity you will be SO excited and happy with your new lips! We send you home with an ice pack to help ease the swelling or any discomfort you might feel but that subsides shortly after. You want to make sure for the next few days you want to be careful, and although you will want to use your new plump lips you want to stay away from doing any hard make out sessions or drinking out of a straw to give the product time to settle in right where we put it.

Day to day after your appointment:

Day 1: You are going to look overly filled, but DON’T you worry because one syringe is the smallest amount of filler and that you will experience is swelling. You might freak out asking yourself what you did but just remember you are not used to that look yet, and after a couple days that will settle down.

Day 2-3: You may experience some bruising at this time, which is absolutely normal. You may also tend to feel some bumps around the lips or lumps as we call them. That is the filler that is finding its place and it will go away on its own, but if not we might tell you it needs a little bit of massaging, which we are happy to do for you to put you at ease.

Day 4-5: By this time you are starting to get used to your lips and might be catching yourself looking in the mirror so much more. You might try and start putting on a new lipstick or liner, but you are going to be loving your lips!

After the 5th day: Now you might miss the swollen look and want more, which is okay! Remember that one syringe of Juvederm ultra is 1/5th of a teaspoon so you might want to get another syringe. We are not here to give you pillow lips or anything drastic so we will tell you if we think your lips could hold another syringe at this time or if it is in your best interest to wait.

Leave it to us to give you a natural, plump looking lip that matches the shape of your face without over doing it. We promise you will love the before and after pictures!
