Why I Chose Morpheus 8 and NeoGen Plasma Treatments

There are some advantages of growing older and maturing. For instance, when I say, “Well, bless your heart” to someone now, it carries considerably more sting. Or, I suppose being called mam and knowing I’ve earned it.

However, there are the other parts of aging that are not as endearing. Saggy jowls, crepe skin, hollow eye sockets Each morning I look in the mirror and wonder, where did I go? This tired, haggard woman simply cannot be the vivacious attractive person I see in all my Facebook photos? Sadly, as the sleep is wiped from my eyes, I recognize the truth for what it is; darn it I hate looking my age! So, after suffering in not so much silence I decided to do something about it. I had done my research on various services invasive and non but needed a professional opinion.

Fortunately, working with the experienced and wonderful team at L Aesthetics and Longevity has its perks. I consulted with each of our knowledgeable providers to get their own independent opinions as to the best plan of attack….I mean prescription for treatment so that I can regain my youthful glow. It was unanimous that I should start with two treatments, Morpheus8 and NeoGen Plasma both of which are designed to strengthen and tighten my skin. We picked a time and I was on my way to getting the new, old me back.

For those of you unfamiliar with either procedure both are non-invasive, which was a key deciding factor for me, and performed in the clinic. Morpheus8 is a new subdermal adipose remodeling device (SARD) that penetrates deep into the skin and morphing the aging face and thinning skin. In layman’s terms, it is microneedling with fractional radio frequency energy for remodeling and contouring; often called a “mini face lift”.  NeoGen plasma uses nitrogen gas to produce plasma energy to penetrate the superficial and deeper levels of skin to replace damaged collagen while stimulating elastin formation. This effect can last for over a year from the time of treatment. Fortunately, both treatments can be performed together which was great because I was ready to start the metamorphosis.

Remember the old saying, “No pain, no gain?”, well, that pertains to aesthetic transformations as well. Fortunately, there are ways to combat the discomfort. First, two separate types of numbing creams are applied to your skin well before the procedure. Additionally, if you know your own personal pain threshold, L has a certified nurse anesthetist on staff who is wonderful (and beautiful) and can offer you a choice of laughing gas, oral medication or IV sedation. I opted for sticking with the numbing creams and Josh started with Morpheus8.  Overall it wasn’t too bad. Josh has a very calm and soothing voice which helped as he let me know each step of the way what to expect. Additionally, he had some great music on so my mind would work on the tempo and lyrics rather than the sounds and smells. Did it hurt? Yep! Josh and I laughed at the thought that I purposely chose to do this to myself! Alas, il faut souffrir poru etre belle, or beauty is pain.

Next came the NeoGen Plasma treatment. Totally different experience, except for the fact that I kept internally giggling that I asked for this. Where Morpheus8 can be liked to little ant bites, NeoGen reminded me of my big brother and that nasty rubber band he used to snap me with. Yes, it stings. But, let me tell you, I will gladly take some ant bites and rubber band snaps to general anesthesia and invasive surgery any day!

In less than an hour I was finished. Josh gently applied Aquaphor gel, gave me all my post procedure instructions and sent me on my way. I got home and my boyfriend took one look and turned white. “What did they do to you?” he said. I assured him I was fine and honestly, I was. You know what it felt like? A good sunburn, which is exactly what I told Josh when he asked how I felt. By nightfall, the burning sensation was gone. I loaded up more gel and went to bed. For the next 4 or 5 days I kept my face “moist” with the gel and let my skin heal. Other than a little tightness and itching, I did not feel any different than normal.  Sure, I looked a little scary, but we women know that comes with the territory. Now, my skin is smoother, more plump, firmer and tighter. If needed, I could do another round in a month or so to amplify the effect. Easy peasy.

Folks let me leave you with this thought. One’s self confidence is something that holds the key to so many other aspects of your life. Don’t let the mirror take it away from you.
