Summertime Skincare Tips

We all know that Texas summers are extremely hot, so makeup is the last thing we typically want to put on our face. I find that when I take great care of my skin, I don’t even feel the need to put it on. Here are some of my favorite things to do so I can rock the “no makeup” look during the summer heat:

  1. Sunscreen, sunscreen, and more sunscreen: Whether you’re going to the pool, lake, beach, or just a drive in the car, SPF should never be missing in your daily routine. Not only does this protect your skin from getting burnt, but it also helps prevent sun damage spots from forming in the skin as well. I find that the more I wear sunscreen, the more even my complexion looks, and the less makeup I have to wear.

  1. Hydrafacials: This is my favorite type of facial to get done on a monthly basis to clean out my pores and give my skin a nice glow. When I keep up when getting these on a regular basis, I find that my skincare products tend to work better, my skin is much smoother, and I use less makeup. There is no downtime after getting Hydrafacials, so these are great for the hotter months during the year because you don’t have to worry about your skin peeling or being irritated like some of the other more intense treatments we do here.

  1. Even Tone Correcting Serum: Especially somewhere like Texas, we get A LOT of sun exposure. Between the lake, beach, pool, or just normal everyday life, it is impossible not to get sun damage in the summertime. We work all year long doing treatments like BBLs, chemical peels, and other skin treatments to get rid of damage from the past, we can’t forget to maintain those results and prevent the damage from coming back. The reason I love this product specifically, is because it is a non-hydroquinone and non-retinol pigment lightener. That is so important for summertime because it isn’t going to make you photosensitive like some other products would, meaning you can use it all year around and not have to worry about the sun making it worse. This product helps lighten superficial hyperpigmentation that already exists in the skin, as well as preventing future pigmentation from forming.

  • Hydration: Not only is it important to keep your body hydrated in the summer, but you also need to keep your skin hydrated as well. Water is essential to keeping your skin dewy, clear from breakouts, and all around healthier. In addition to drinking an adequate amount of water, using something like hyaluronic acid is vital to keeping your skin hydrated and plumped up in the heat. Hyaluronic acid is a water-binding molecule that can hold 1000x its weight in water, so using this in combination to drinking lots of water will keep your skin glowing.

So, whether you’re on the lake in Texas this summer or the beach in Cabo, make sure to follow these tips and tricks so you can ditch the makeup and keep your skin glowing all summer long!
