Tips For Clear Skin with the World’s Newest Accessory
Although these past few months have been very strange, I have begun to settle into what seems to be our new normal (at least for the time being). Spending lots of time at home, limited gatherings, staying six feet apart and wearing masks. However, although I now am used to having a mask in my car at all times, and feeling naked whenever I am not wearing one, the one thing I refuse to get used to is the breakouts I am experiencing since wearing these masks. Although I have been blessed enough to not struggle with extreme acne, I have definitely begun to experience breakouts during this quarantine time. Although most likely related to stress, I have been breaking out along my cheeks and mouth which I can only attribute to these masks I have been wearing on a daily basis. So without further ado, here are my top five tips for battling these new factors contributing to breakouts!
1)Keep Your Mask Clean: This might seem like a no brainer, but the amount of bacteria, makeup and grime your mask will pick up after wearing it all day is significant. You can either switch out to a new disposable one each day, or get a nice reusable one that you can wash after wearing. I like keeping a mask in my car for last minute store runs, however I have one that I wear when I have makeup on, and one that I wear when I am bare faced. This at least ensures that I am not getting old makeup on my face when I do not have time to swap it out for a clean mask.
2)Wash Your Face: I have begun to switch my face washing routine to as soon as I get home instead of waiting until I go to bed that night. This makes sure that I wash all the oil and makeup off that has built up under my mask and reduces the amount of clogged pores that I end up with. Be sure to use a good exfoliant a couple times a week to scrub those pores clean!
3)Get Your Facials: Although cleaning your face at home can be effective, it is now more important than ever to get regular facials. Hydrafacials or Diamond Glow Treatments work wonders to deep clean pores and maintain clear skin. I like to think of them like a power wash for your skin!
4)Use Salicylic Acid: During this time using a product with salicylic acid will help to break down excess oil and clear out any clogged pores. ZO Oil Control pads are perfect for using once or twice a day to quickly clean your skin. The salicylic acid in the pads will work to keep your skin nice and clean, and because the solution is on the pad, it is perfect for throwing into your bag without having to worry about it spilling.
5)Use Proper Skincare: A proper skincare routine is always important, but I know for myself that sometimes I fall off the bandwagon of maintaining my routine. However, I am forcing myself to be extremely diligent about using my cleansers, physical exfoliants and my retinol to keep my pores as clean as possible. From personal experience I know my skin is infinitely happier when I do my routine on a daily basis. So consider this your reminder to jump back on the skincare routine!
