Kybella is the first FDA approved non-surgical injection treatment used to dissolve excess fat under the chin. The double chin is clinically referred to as submental fullness, and prescription Kybella made by Allergan can help treat moderate to severe submental fullness. Sometimes we have clients that are avid gym goers that can’t seem to lose weight under their chin. There are no muscles under the chin that can be exercised in a traditional way. Submental fullness is caused by a number of factors, including weight gain, aging and genetics.
Deoxycholic acid Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in submental fullness. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal. Basically, that fat will never come back. Kybella is an amazing and less expensive alternative to surgery such as liposuction with minimal downtime!
After scheduling your appointment at L-Aesthetics,you will consult with one of our experienced injectors who will determine how many vials of Kybella and number of treatments will be needed based on your treatment goals. We will numb the area under your chin after thorough cleansing and mark where we will safely inject product. The procedure will take anywhere from 15-20 minutes and the sensation felt is described as no more than mild burning. You will be sent home with an ice pack for comfort and swelling.
The most common side effects of Kybella include swelling, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. Each Kybella treatment session is given at least 1 month apart, and you should not receive more than 6 treatments. Kybella results are permanent as the fat cells in that area have been killed and drained through your lymphatic system naturally.
