Hyperhidrosis

Written by: Brielle Kirk, PA-C

Hyperhidrosis is a condition in which a person sweats more than what is normal. It can occur under the armpits, the hands and feet, and also the face. There is no harm that is caused by this, however, it can lead to embarrassment and annoyance for the person suffering from it. There are several different ways in which to treat it, yet it is usually difficult. There are oral medications and prescription-grade deodorants that can be given, yet a lot of the times they do not work and cause the patient unnecessary side effects.

One treatment that is extremely effective for excess sweating is Botox administration! Botox paralyzes the nerves that control the sweat glands, which leads to decreased sweat production in the area of concern. It only affects the area that is treated, so you will not experience side effects like some of the oral medications can cause. Usually, Botox works for this condition n for around 6 months. Even if you have not necessarily been diagnosed with hyperhidrosis, but you do not like the amount you sweat under your armpits, hands, or feet, Botox administration can be for you. Please call our office to schedule a consultation with one of our providers to be treated!
