Happy birthday Salma Hayek! Salma turned 55 recently and she was rocking a modest but hot electric blue one-piece swimsuit in a birthday post. I love to see women in their 50s and beyond living their lives, wearing what they want to wear, and having the confidence to be themselves! Yes, Salma has an awesome body and is beautiful, but I believe that we are all beautiful.
She stated in a comment that she does not feel that there is an “expiration date” on women in Hollywood or in life. I agree! I think the only expiration date is the one we put on ourselves or allow others to put on us.
Live while you are alive! Do things that make you happy. Focus on what you do have and on your “good” parts. Do you have nice legs? Focus on that. Wear clothing that accentuates your legs. Have an hourglass figure? Yes!! Rock that and show off your curves or your waist. I do anesthesia for plastic surgeons and people pay good money to have fat injected into their butt to make it MUCH bigger, so if you have a big butt, you are in style! You just saved thousands of dollars on surgery and have what so many want.
So, you have a tiny butt? Just wait and that will be in style. And who cares what is in style anyway? We don’t need some big clothing, TV production, or makeup company telling us how we should look. We are beautiful and unique. We are wonderful creations, and our differences bless the world. How boring would it be if we all looked the same? Same size, same color, same features… Blah!
I am shooting to live to 120 at least, but I don’t have to let everything slide and look like I am 120 when I get there. Yes, I am all about being thankful for what we have and rocking the face and body we have, but that does not mean that I am against doing things to slow down the hands of time.
Actually, I am a big fan of taking advantage of the technologies available to us these days. I admit that I use Botox, have had so
me fillers, and I color my hair. My hair is starting to turn grey in places. I don’t mind it, but I love purple better so currently I color my hair purple. Someday if I get tired of purple, go all white, or just don’t want to go to the trouble anymore, then I will stop coloring my hair.
I feel like Botox helps me look more friendly and I get a little mood boost because the inability to frown helps keep my happy hormones circulating. I like my lips the way they were when I was younger, so I plump them with a little Juvéderm Ultra. I do radio frequency microneedling at L Aesthetics and Longevity about once a year to stimulate collagen growth and keep my skin from sagging.
Don’t judge me or others who choose to do differently than you. If a man or woman chooses to have plastic surgery, that is their decision. If someone wants to let nature take its course without doing any procedures, using any medical grade products, or taking any supplements, this is their choice. If your friend gets Botox or filler and you don’t, keep your opinions to yourself (unless they ask your opinion).
No matter your age, shape, size, color, sex, etc, you are valuable. You matter and you are attractive. There is something about you that is unique and that blesses the world. Rock what you have and if you want to change something, go for it. If you are happy with the way you are, rock that!
Stop judging yourself and others. Love yourself and love others. And if you are 55 like Salma Hayek (happy birthday, Salma) or any age, be confident in the phase of life you are in. Know that you only have the expiration date that you allow to be placed on you. You rock you from the beginning all the way to the end (and I will tell you a secret, there really is no end…)
